eight things i know for sure

i got tagged, and revealing eight things about myself seems like a fun thing to partake in (only eight!?). so here goes...

1. i used to sell copier toner by phone, and i was really good at it.
2. i used to teach english and business communications at a community college, and i was really terrible at it.
3. i used to fall down a lot (and no, not always while drinking; i think i was still growing into my big, big soul). when i backpacked through europe in my early 20s, i fell down in the vatican, the alps, and the louvre.
4. i wrote a novel. two actually. one circa 1987 about four best girlfriends who drove a red convertible to the mountains for spring break and met four cute firefighters when their cabin caught on fire. god help me, i think there was a scene involving a bearskin rug. eat your heart out, sweet valley high! the second novel circa 1998-2005 was about love, loss, and living—all without a bearskin rug.
5. i do not like to sit with my back to the door in restaurants.
6. i bite my nails bigtime.
   
7. my bedroom is turquoise blue.
8. i once stole a car. but before you scream GRAND THEFT AUTO, you should know i was in high school and that the owner of the car was a mean girl. who went upstairs with my then-boyfriend. and stayed up there for much too long. hmmm, it seemed a fine idea except that i could barely drive a stick, which a) made our joyride more of a jerkride and b) meant that once we parked at the grocery store (midnight gummy bears!), i had no clue how to get it into reverse. thank goodness that bagboy at the grocery offered to reverse it for us. and even after all that joyriding and amazing problem solving, the mean girl and my then-bf still hadn't come down from upstairs. hmmm. so i stole it again. let's just say the second time around i didn't get so lucky.
